American Food Problems (Received September 30, 8.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, September 29. The congressional leaders, after a eon ferciice with Mr. Roosevelt, snid that the President would send messages to Congress soon on the food situation. Senator Barkley, the Democratic leader, said the generai food situation was occasioning the Administration growing alat’in because of the shortages and the rising 1 Tlie food administrator, Mr. Marvin Jones, has asked Congress to authorize the Commodity Credit Corporation to utilize 500,(109.(1(10 dollars for loot! subsidles to roll back the prices. Mr. Jones told the House Banking Committee that farm production costs were rising mid tlie Government should absorb Ute losses where necessary.
