Senators’ Opinion After Trip To Battlefronts (Received September 30, 11.10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, September 29. Senators Mead, Brewster and Russell, who have returned from an inspection trip to the world battlefronts, tolu the Press that they believed the war in the -Pacific would not end before 194 u, but. because the Axis had lost the Russian oil and also control of the Mediterranean mid Hie submarine battle,-Ger-inauy’s collapse might come at any lime. ~ On the Pacific front, the Senators said, they found the closest co-operation between the army and navy, but not enough supplies and men were going there. Nevertheless, the Japanese knew the Allies were on the offensive. Referring to the “other side of the picture,” the Senators expressed Hie opinion that the American people were not being informed about the seamy side, meaning that heavy losses were not fully mentioned.
