Training- Of Disabled Servicemen
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.! AUOK'LAiND,-'September 30.. A vocational training centre for disabled servicemen and women is being planned in Auckland to accommodate 430 persons. Details of the scheme have been submitted for final approval in YVellington by the Dominion executive of the Reestablishment League. Tlie proposals include 13 different departments for work and training, and provide for the manufacture of mops and dusters, the making of canvas bags, watch and jewellery repairs, wire, inetal. leather, and wood work, tailorihg. basketwork, arts and crafts, and hobbies. The scheme is much larger and more comprehensive than any other in New Zealand. A site of (wo acres will he sufficient, and will also provide a recreational area adjacent to tlie centre. The estimated requirements are based on the assumption that half of New Zealand's disabled servicemen and women will gravitate to the mild Auckland climate. Disabled civilians will also he admitted to the centre for training and treatment.
