Contingent Of Polish Refugees
Advice has been received by tlie New Zealand Red Cross Society of tlie safe arrival in Mexico of the contingent ot Polish refugees which passed, through YVelliimton some time. ago. The Party included about 600 women and children. Mr. Henryk Stebclski, Consul lor Poland in Mexico, in a letter to the Dominion secretary ol the society, uiite.s. "About it fortnight ago 1 arrived safely with my party to Mexico. 'Hie hospiI’alile Mexicans have given the Polish refugees a nice estate in the district, ot Guanajunto, 300 miles north of Mexico City, which, for tlie duration, will he their new home. Besides tlie Lolish and Mexican Governments, the U.S. Government lias given great help and assistance in establishing (lie new camp. "Conditions in general, as well as the climate of Hie country, are far better than those in India or the Middle East and it seems that, tlie refugees will be very happy there. Nevertheless, they all do appreciate greatly your help and. remember your kindness and have asked me to convey to you their sincere thanks.
