Wellington Still Short Of Quota
Figures presented by the honorary treasurer, Mr. B. O. Peterson, to yesterdays monthly meeting of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Committee, showed Wellington province to. be about £35,(100 behind in raising its quota for funds for the year ending today, and of that sum the Wellington metropolitan area was responsible for some £28.000. As a matter of fact, since these figures were compiled (lie state of the metropolitan funds has improved, the deficit being about £23,000. However, tlie treasurer duly deals with the nibnevs lie has actually received. Only two out of the ten zones have oversubscribed their quotas —Palmerston North (£3167/10/3 ahead) and Wanganui (£207/8/-). AVhcn these figures were before (lie meeting one member suggested playfully that the job of collecting patriotic funds during the coming year shoiild be handed over to Palmerston North.
