WORK AT HAWERA
Dominion Special Service. HAM'ERA, September 88. With a fine morning and the course proper available for two-year-olds nnd Otaki-engagcd horses, there wa-s considerable activity on the Hawera tracks this morning. On the coarse proper, with the going holding, and the pegs wide out. Corday (Potroz) set/ the main by running from the seven furlongs to the three in 54}, the last two in 27. After covering the first three furlongs in 40}, Panamint (Neill) shaded Nightray (Potroz). at the end of half a mile completed in 55. Killarnev Boy (Moore) and General Saleve (Clutterbuck)' sprinted two furlongs down the back in 27 3-5. Gay Theio (Clutterbuck) and Meermint (Moore), finishing together, galloped half a mile in 52}, t|ie first three furlongs in 41}. Aiderman (Potroz), going the first two furlongs in under 26, completed three in 40, Golden Acre (Clutlerbuck) and Vermette (Moore) registered 55} for four furlongs, the last two in 27. Student Prince (-M. McDonald) gave a splendid exhibition over a round of the schooling hurdles. Battledress (Holland) was allowed to stretch out over the last three furlongs of his work, registering 41.
