HASTINGS TRIALS
Two-Year-Old Candidates Sprinted Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, September 28i With the Hastings race meeting this week there was n little more Interest in. training operations tills morning. The course was in splendid order. The best times were recorded by Palora, Theatre, Sports Flash, La Serena, Voltaire, Skyhawk, Ivar, and Lastik. The two-year-olds were all sprinted three furlongs. Silvestre (Vaals —Silver Rule) and Ritz (Gynerlum—Romano), though taking 3S), worked more impressively than others of the same age. Silvestre is to race, at Hastings, but Ritz probably not till Wellington. St. Nat (Theio—Sungift) was going better than Haughty Queen over three furlongs in 40. Ring Velvet (Ringmaster— Moquette) and the Gynerlum—White Gold Ally ran three furlongs in 39. Theiodessa (Theio —Hine-te-ra), a big filly that is sure to improve with racing experience, and Shassallee (Legatee—Soutra); took 39 for three, time that was bettered by Brief Melody (Solicitor GeneralHigh Note) .and Delinquent (Defaulter — Grand Eclat), when easily accounting for Sunny Rosa (Il Duce—Siinuy Maid), Sorrell (Gynerlum—Brown Hill) shaded Gold Quest' over thre ( > iu 38J. the latter time being the standard for the morning. Other three furlougs were:' Mitrram, 38; Note Raid, 40; Gay Falcon (impressively), 38: Taiwhanui (easily), 412; Master Guin, 383. Palora and Theatre were responsibles for the best half-mile, registering 50. Others over the same distance were Poutatau, 511; Bunsby and Griffin, 51: Joseph Conrad and Virtuoso, 51}; Arai, 52. Sports Flash and La Serena did the best five when recording 63}. Others at this distance were: Regal Night and Deserf Ace, Ooi: Kinfid, 66; Genean (easily) and Taslii Lama, 66}; Interrogation, Fox Spear and Kincrop in that order at close intervals in 05.
Over six furlongs, Skyhawk and Voltaire, taking 36 for the first three, and stopping slightly over the last three, ran six in LlG}. Ivar and Lastik registered practically the same time and were more impressive, coming homo the last three in 39. Other six-furlong efforts were: Epping*, 1.20; Glenfalloch and Greenfeast, clear of Singing Hills, 1,2-1; Cheap Lodging, assisted the Inst five by Barrosa, 1.19; The Monarch, 1.22. Flying Hawk and Indian Sport (going the better and carrying most weight) ran once round in 1.42.
Monmouth gave a nippy display over five hurdles. Timothy, jumping six hurdles. showed improvement,, and is likely to make a useful hurdler with experience. Sandy Cape was shaded by Circular Note over a round of the hurdles, both hitting most obstacles.
