Wellington Committee Sits COMMENT BY CHAIRMAN

He stated that after th e earthquakes last year the top story of the building was condemned and had been demolished. Mr. Morgan said that final plans had not been prepared. How many stories would be built depended .upon the circumstances ruling at the time.. Commenting that nothing much could bo done about it, the chairman intimated that the licence would be granted. lieports were made that at present there were no lodgers at the Duke or Edinburgh Hotel, which was still under reconstruction. Earthquake repairs were proceeding at the New Occidental Hotel and the Pier Hotel. The chairman commented that the committee noticed a slight improvement in the number of convictions recorded against licensees, but there were still some hotels requiring stricter supervision by licensees. Some hotels had a clean sheet so far as convictions were concerned.
