Reciprocal Trade. . President Roosevelt has signed the Bill extending the reciprocal trade agreements programme for two years, states a Washington message. .
Timber Economies. . . An official United States mission recently arrived in Britain :to discuss flatters of common interest in connexion with control of the production of timber and economy in its use.
Colin Tapley Engaged. Flving Officer Colin Tapley, son of the late ‘Mr. and Mrs. 11. L. Tapley, Dunedin, is affianced to Patricia, widow of Mr. John Lyon and daughter of the late Major-General Sir Percy Hambro and Lady Hainbrp.
Jail For Fraud. Ernest George .Osborn, a 52-years-old chemist, who arrived in England irom New Zealand 10 years ago, was sentenced to 12 months’ hard labour at the Middlesex sessions on Monday,' for obtaining money by fraud. Osborn was a Press correspondent in America in the last war and later a chemist in Shanghai.
Faith in Victory. . The President of Czechoslovakia, Dr. Benes, in a message to the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Mackenzie King, said: "I am deeply satisfied with the results of our conversations. The great moral and material contribution of Canada in the struggle against the common enemy and the alliance of our two countries for the ultimate victory of justice and truth convince me that Canada and Czechoslovakia will remain true friends in the fulfilment of this great task.”
