OLEIN WORKS WELL
Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON, January 28. Highlight of the gallops at the Opaki race track this morning was a brilliant seven-furlong sprint by Olein on the plough in 1.32. The good-looking chestnut lias to date completely failed at race meetings to reproduce her track work. If everything goes well in the Konini Hack Handicap nt Otaki on Saturday, Olein should be among the first to line up for home. Present indications arc that W. F. Ellis will have the mount. V J Sellars will ride Cheerful Lady in the Eketahuna Handicap. The mare is very lit and mush be given a chance. This morning her work was confined to useful gallops for which no times were taken. Gav Fox. who will be ridden by Sellars in the I’ahiatua Cup conveyed the Impression that nothing wonderful can be expected in Hint direction as yet. Gamble will be ridden by Ashley Jenkins in the Highwelglit. Punters have to remember that the great mare Cuddle, Gamble's dam was at her best as a four-year-old. It has been too soon to expect winning form yet. Trainer George’s intentions are 'Io give Gamble a spell soon. Full Light bolted twice round the course with Jenkins on board. As a prospect’ in the Maiden race with Jenkins on top on Saturday Full Light will carry little local support. lu addition to the mounts mentioned above A. Jenkins will ride Po Huka in the Koniut Hack and K. Smith will ride Lady Neou.
