To conserve motor parts and specially lo save rubber by reducing tyre wear, all vehicles in Australia excepting those of tlie defence and emergency services will be restricted to 40 miles an hour after February 1- Tests have proved that from 30 to 35 .ni.p.h. is the most, economical speed fc? tyre wear, and the new limit is expected’ to give tyres now in use an average life of 18,000 miles.
