OBITUARY

Mr. W. M. Smith

The death lias occurred of Mr. William Marmaduke Smith, aged S< tears, stales a "Dominion’’ Special Service message from Wanganui. He was lor many years in the employ of the Bank of Australia and was manager in I'eatlierston, Marton, New Plymouth and Wanganui. He was recognized as a- very able banker. ... Mr. Smith had been living m retiicinent lor some years. He took a keen interest in the Wanganui Museum and was on its committee at the time ot. ins death. Besides presenting many unique Maori artifacts, he assisted the museum to secure ninny other valuable specimens. He is survived by a sou, who is farming in. North Auckland, and a daughter, Miss Inez Smith, who is matron of the Craigholm Hospital in Hawera.
