ATTRACTIVE UNIFORM
' The first woman official attached to the American Red Cross in Wellington to wear the full uniform of the organization is Miss Helen Macdonald, who is assisting in directing its social welfare activities. In this capacity Miss Macdonald is at present arranging for volunteer hostesses and chaperons to help in the work of entertaining American servicemen. .This, however, is not the only avenue in which her services are being utilized. The uniform is of air force blue, made up in officer’s material. It consists of a skirt and well-fitting belted jacket complete with flap pockets and the letters A.R.C. on each lapel. White shirt blouse and black tie finish the outfit, together with a jockey-style peaked cap. The -badge of the American Red Cross is pinned t<> the front oL the cap and the insignia of her official ranking is shown b.v a large red and white badge on the upper sleeve, with a red cross as the central motif. Miss Hannal More Frazer, American Red Cross organizer and supervisor of service clubs in New Zealand, who is visiting Wellington at present, was the first person to be seen wearing the uniform when she was in the city on a previous visit. Miss Macdonald is of Scots Canadian extraction: she is a graduate of ii Canadian university and has been in Wellington for about four years. She left last night on a visit to Auckland. It is expected that several other women workers witn the American Red Cross in Wellington will shortly be wearing similar uniforms.
