British Destroyer’s Feat (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, January 21. A lone British destroyer attacked an enemy convoy oft: the French coast at night and sank a merchant ship and severely damaged another before she withdrew, with nothing worse than a shellhole in her funnel. The story just released states that for nearly tour hours the destroyer weaved round the convoy, causing such confusion that, on Severn occasions the enemy were tiring at each Ot The convoy, which consisted of three merchant ships, must have been important, for the enemy provided three w.n ships as escort—an armed trawler and two fast, well-armed torpedo-boats. The Admiralty states that in the early hours of Tuesday morning our patrols and light, coastal forces intercepted a small enemy supply ship escorted by two large trawlers close to the eoast of Holland. In the subsequent engagement the supply ship and one trawler were torpedoed and seen to blow up. Our forces suffered only slight casualties tinji no damage, despite the intervention o. enemy shore batteries. The Admiralty also announces that lhe fleet minesweeper Bramble is overdue and must be considered lost.
