FRENCH PRETENDER’S VISIT
Questions In Commons LONDON, January 20. In the House of Commons today a member asked the Foreign Secretary, MrEden, if he was aware of the great concern in the country as a result of the appointment of M. Peyrouten. Mr. Eden said he would like notice of that question. . , Replying to another question, Mr. Eden said the British Government had had no knowledge of n visit which was made to Algiers by the Compte de Paris (French Royal Pretender), and neither so far as he was aware, had the United States Government. Mr. Eden’ said the Governments had impressed upon the French authorities in North Africa the need for the release of all persons who had been detained on account of their sympathies with the Allied, cause, whatever thennationalities.
