U.S. General’s Tribute
"All of us have been much impressed with this lovely country and the hospitable and attractive people who have greeted us with such open-hearted cordiality,” said the Commanding General of . the L’nitcd States Marine Corps in New Zealand. in reply to the Christmas greetings of the British-American Co-operation -Movement. "When we return to our homeland, the General added, “all of us will take back a most vivid recollection of the cordial goodwill we have found ou all sides in New Zealand, together with a high regard for your national aspirations aud the most admirable manner in which you are meeting your local national problem.” The General's letter was addressed to -Mr. A. Leigh Hunt, executive chairman of the British-American Co-operation Movement, and the General also said he joined the movement in the ardent hope that the present year would see the United Nations well on the way to victory over the common enemy.
