Closing Hours For Shops In Wellington The secretary of the M ellington Employers’ Association, Mr. W. J. Mountjoy, stated yesterday that all shops, including drapers, clothiers, mercers, boot retailers, hardware, booksellers, stationers and grocers, other than tearooms, restaurants and milk bars, fruit shops and confectioners, will close on Friday next, January , 1943 Butchers! shops will be closed from Thursday evening at_s P.m. till Monday morning, January 25, 1J43. The late night for this week is transferred from Friday to Thursday night, when shops will keep open in accordance with, their usual Friday night practice. The shops that are closed on r nday will open as usual on Saturday morning, with- the exception of butchers’ shops, aunder the butchers’ assistants’ award Saturday becomes a compulsory holiday in the Wellington metropolitan area.
