BUILDERS PERTURBED

Restrictions On Issue Of Permits In South

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, January 19. Curtailment of building by restrictions on the issue of permits has caused concern among Invercargill builders. Representations have been made to Mr. Denham, M.P., and today he sent the following telegram to the Minister of Public Works: “The stopping of building activities has caused economic dislocation and much anxiety among builders and allied trades here. There is a widespread rumour that building materials will be transported to the North Island, thus unduly penalizing this district. While I appreciate the great problem the Government is facing, I would like your assurance that the present drastic restrictions will be lifted at the earliest possible moment, and that this district will receive its fair share of building materials and work.”
