MORE POWERFUL PETROL
WASHINGTON, January 18.
The development of n new eiitalylie relining process for producing superior aviation petrol is announced by the Houdry
Process Corporal ion. ’l’he octane rating of the new petrol is so great: that aeroplane motors must: be redesigned to make full use of ils power. For that reason the chief value of the new process at present is to raise the octane rating of aviation fuels. The development makes possible the designing of vastly more powerful aeroplane engines, producing greater speeds, manoeuvrability and flying range. The adiabatic catalytic cracking method produces the new fuel trom heavy naphtha, which is al present available in greater quanlities than crude oil.
