CHURCHILL AUCTION
Wellington Raises £l5OO Almost £l5OO for patriotic funds was raised in two days by the Chureltid auctions in Wellington, thus equalling the amount raised by both Auckland and Dunedin. The fourth and last of the auctions will be held in New flymouth next Thursday, when over 200 lots will be offered. Few books were offered yesterday, most of Ihe day being devoted to paintings, etchings, china, stamps and colt.-s. The gallery of bidders for stamps was small but keen and 'he amount raised was worth the last-minute organization of which it was the result. In the art sections prices were i>etter than on Thursday, the Meryou etchings, for example. fetching approximately twice the bids they drew the previous day. Of the books, several lots went to the Wellington Tnlilie Library.
