News And Notes Talk on Holland. .Mrs. Charles McPhee presided oyer the October meeting of the Kelburn branch of the League of Mothers. .Members were privileged to have Mrs. .Schwimmer as the guest speaker for the afternoon, and sue gave an informative talk on Ho.lam . Under the 'baton of Mrs. Pledger, witn .Mrs. Chapman at the piano, the choir sang two numbers. The branch handed in several knitted garments and more wool was distributed. Manifold Activities. An unusual amount of activity mis taken place at the Missions to Seamen Institute in Wellington recently. Ltuge numbers of men have attended the dances, pictures and other amusements, provided at the institute’s hull in Stout Street. A successful dance was held, a large number of seamen enjoying dancing ami toe items and novelty numbers provided by members of the crew of an ovcrseas ship. Not only have a large number ot gilts in Ihe form of woollen comforts, games, gramophones and gramophone records been given to ships, but an exchange ol more than 20(1 books was made throug'.i the mission’s library. This library is maintained through the generosity ot those interested in the welfare ot seamen. Country people took men into their homes over the weekend, this being a service, of inestimable value, and any help in tins direction is particularly welcome.
