When it laid the foundation of an avenue of ornamental trees and shrubs on Kapiti Road, which runs from rhe main highway to the beach, the Paraparauniu Beautifying Society included several varieties of broom in the plautin- 'l'liis season the brooms have (lowercd” particularly well, but unfortunately thev have attracted the attention of marauders, who have not only stripped the trees of their blooms, but have broken many of the branches. In once instance a large bunch of flowers was picked and left, to wither on the side of the road. Replacement of trees damaged wilfully or through carelessness in various parts of the district has to be faced up to by the society every planting season.
