ROSE DAY FUND
Successful Community Sing By consent of Theatre Management, Ltd., the Majestic Theatre Wellington, was made available at miuday yestetday for a community sing to help the Rose Day appeal funds. An ex«lint American dance band, a gifted O tou of W instrumentalists, pleased theaudience greatly by 1 their numerous co - tributions to the programme. Ihcst con eisted of the latest American songs and ' °The S mayor 1 of b Wellington, Mr. Hislop, welcomed the band and all members ot the U.S. forces present. 1 licit were onlv two occasions in the year’on which the'U.S.A, made appeals to the public, he said. They were the Indays befoie Anzac and Armistice Days, Iho nst was Poppy Day, and the other Rose Day , on Friday next. This was an eftoil to help the Itose Day appeal, when money was collected -for the general purposes of the Returned Services Association, to help all those who had done their duty by- their country in the war zone. le was sure they would all do what they could to help. ... ~ n’Brioil The sing was led by Mi. 8.. O Bi tn. Miss MollV Atkinson, Miss Mans lai monds, and Mr. Ken Macau lay sang appropriate solos, to the (leliwht audience. Mr. C. Howe was the accompanist.
