Mr. T. E. Dewey Elected LONDON, November 4. The Republican candidate, Thomas E. Dewey has been elected Governor of New York with a majority of 500000 Born in Michigan in 1902, Mr. Dewey was admitted to the New York Bar in 1926. He was chief assistant to the United States Attorney in the Southern
District of New York from 1931 to 1933, when he became United States Attorney. He was special prosecutor at the investigation of organized crime in New York, from 1935 to 1937, toward the end of which year he was elected District Attorney for the New York County. He is a Republican, an Episcopalian, and a Mason.
