FIRE IN HOTEL

Small Outbreak Quickly Extinguished Shortly after 11 o'clock last night the fire brigade was called to the New Commercial Hotel, Lambton Quay, II elhngton, where a small outbreak had occurred near the lift-well on the top floor. It was quickly extinguished with bucket pumps. Guests in the hotel, aroused by the ringing of the bells of the hotel s internal warning system, quickly gathered on the landings. They showed evidence of hasty donning of clothes. Some had overcoats over their night attire. . Two motor pumps from the Central Station and one from Thorndon Station were in attendance with two fire escapes.
