TIMBER SHIPMENTS
Move To Eliminate Pests CANBERRA, October 29. The Minister of Commerce, Mr. Scully, announced that regulations were being brought into operation as from December 1 prohibiting the export of certain timber to New Zealand unless it lias been certified as being free from termite or other insect infestation. Tliis action is being taken at tlie request of the New Zealand Government and in association witli legislation which is being introduced by that Government, to control tlie imports of tlie timber prescribed. It comprises (a) timber in tlie round, (b) heart timber, (c) sleepers, (d) any other timber free of heart with a cross sectional area of no fewer than 60 square yards.
