A New York message says that Mr. Paul Smith, Government war information official, and former editor of the San Francisco “Chronicle." has resigned his commission ns a naval lieulennntconunander and enlisted in the marines as a buck private. lie explained: "1 couldn't run a destroyer, which lieuten-ant-commanders are supposed to do. Now I am going to learn how to use a bayonet.”
