Wellington Alluvials’ report for the four weeks ended October JO the dredge returned r<2 ounces for -14TT hours from L’IKJ.OUU yards. North Kaigurll (19112) Ltd. reports that during the period ended September 22 7310 tons were treated for a recovery of 2750 ounces. Furness, Withy Accounts The accounts of Furness, Withy and Co., Limited, for- the year ended April 3U last show a profit, after crediting dividends received aud making provision for taxation, of A10U3,354. compared with £035,0rl for the preceding year, to which is added £180,214 (£189,37'5) .brought iu, making £789,51)8 (£854,051). After providing for a dividend on ordinary shares of 0 nm- cent., £300,001) (£350,0001 has been set aside for depreciation and £lOO,OOO (same) transferred to fleet replacement account, leaving to be carried forward £l<2,o’Js. The balance-sheet totals at £12,780,550 (£12,477,778). Myer Emporium, Ltd. Profits of Myer Emporium. Broken Hill Material Broken Hill Proprietary, according to the Australian Minister of Munitions, Mr. Makin, is supplying material to the Government for half what it would have cost lo get steel from abroad. Some time ago certain armour plate could not be imported and the secret of its manufacture was unknown in Australia. The Government asked the Broken Hill Company to try to discover the formula in its laboratory at Newcastle, and the laboratory mastered the secret. "Today we are getiug this plate for one-sixth of the price we formerly paid for armour plate which did not serve our purpose nearly as well," said Mr. Makin.
