MRS. ROOSEVELT’S VISIT

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 27. Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt was the guesv of honour at a luncheon given by the London County Council, lhe DeputyPrune Minister, Mr. AttleCj and many other members of the Cabinet and the Government were present. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. laden, welcomed Mrs. Roosevelt m three capacities, firstly, as first lady of the United States, secondly, as the wife of the greatest President of a mighty nation, and thirdly- and above all, for herscif. Replying, Mrs. Roosevelt said. that having come to Britain, at the invitation ot the Queen, she hoped to be able to interpret the work of the women ot Britain to her own country. . In the morning Mrs. Roosevelt visited the communications branch of the civil defence headquarters. Afterward, accompanied by the Home Secretary, Mr. Herbert Morrison, and Miss Ellen Wilkinson, Joint Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Home Security, she visited the London fire region. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Churchill entertained Mrs. Roosevelt at dinner.
