BAPTIST CHURCH
Work For Young People
At the diamond jubilee assembly of the Baptist Union in Christchurch last week, a deputation from the Scripture Union, headed by the Rev. H. F. Thompson, Methven, urged the importance of encouraging daily systematic reading of the Bible amoug youth. It was stated that the Scripture Union has over one million members throughout the British Dominions, and the Scripture portions are published in 96 different languages. The Rev. P. L. A. Crampton emphasized the prbblems facing youth aud leaders of youth, problems which were exercising tlfb minds of people in all the churches throughout the world. "Don’t be dismayed if you find that your youth director doesn’t know all the answers,” said Mr. Crampton. "Our first job is to seek to understand the. problems before we try to answer them." The youth director outlined his plan of campaign for the next three years. A rapid tour of the churches would be undertaken. The key words for each of the first three years would tw organization, education, and evangelism respectively, though the three would dovetail considerably iu actual practice. It was the intention of the youth department Io develop a “four-square programme” in connexion with youth work —spiritual, physical, mental, and social —to make every possible facility available for tlio development of young people.
