The standardization of men’s and boys’ shirts and pyjamas has been announced (by the Minister for War Organization of Industry, Mr. Dedjnan, Men’s shirts will be cut three inches in front, and from three to five inches at the back, according to the wearer’s size.

Included in' the new standardized shirt styles is a short open-fronted coat shirt to be worn as a coat in hot weather. It can be worn with or without a tie. Its length is restricted to 24 inches. Other coat style shirts and double cuffs are prohibited. Based on pre-war production figures, elimination of double cuffs and the shortening of the length of shirts, w’ould mean that 250,000 additional shirts could be made from the same amount of cloth, said the Minister.
