Wellington First Day Issue Totals 7586 New ration books issued in AA'ellington yesterday, the first day on which they were available to the public, totalled 758(1 Of this number 39u5 books were issued from the temporary office set up in shop premises in “The Dominion There was a big demand for the new books at the office in “The Dominion Budding yesterday. About a dozen clerks were in attendance, ten women and two men. The consumer, when applying for a new ration book, must hand the old. one to one or the clerks. This page bears the injunction, “Do nothing with this page until told what to do.” A similar instruction is conveyed to toeconsumer on the fifth page—“F” coupons. The last page is reserved for emergency sugar coupons. This sheet should, not be used except -in an emergency, or when on holidays spent away from the usual place of residence. There is also the information that any sugar coupon available in the current rationing period may be converted to an emergency coupon by cutting it out and pasting it in the space provided. , , ...
