WORLD RECONSTRUCTION
Though the three prize-winning articles read at a recent meeting of the New Zealand Women Writers and Artists Association, defining the problems and scope of future world construction which vtil confront modern society, showed diversity of opinion in social and economic aspects,, all agreed that a new scale ot personal motives, a new range of understanding, starting with the individual at an ear.y age. would be essential. Mrs. A. D. Kerr, who donated the l’r |Z e, Mrs. Isobel Andrews, and Mrs. Alan Mulgan judged the entries. Criticism and comments were read over by ,M!s. Andrews. Mrs. Kerr, in the absence ot Mrs. Mulgan, read her remarks mid announced the winners these being ' SS MVeOuarrie Alesdames Cottrel and J. D. MacQuarrie reading thb comments o the judges, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hipkins, Miss Fanny Richardson s entry being adjudged the winner. Miss Mary Seaton, president, was in the chair, and votes of thanks were passed to all who, had contributed to the literary and artistic en joyment of the evening.
Club rooms were crowded at the -weekend. A number of the hostesses made up a nicture partv on Saturday and a <u„?’ers" night”‘was held at the club. The women’s committee of the New Zealan National Party', convened by Mis. K. O. (’hpsnev. was on Sunday duty.
