Introduction Of Six Bills; Tributes To Deceased Legislators

The liveliest day in the House of Representatives for some considerable time was experienced yesterday, when the Parliamentary session was resumed. Immediately the House met the Leadei of the Mr. Holland, gave notice of a no-confidence motion. The ’debate was opened in the evening, and the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, .who followed Mr. Holland, replied with an amendment inviting the iHouse to pledge its loyalty to the Government and the War Cabinet in ( the war effort. The debate, in which two other speakers took part, will be continued today. Six Bills were introduced during the afternoon. 1 hey were the Local Legislation Bill, Reserves and Other Lands Disposal Bill, Native Purposes Bill, Medical Advertisements Bill, Women Jurors Bill, and Finance Bill. Tributes were also paid to legislators and former legislators who have died during the recess. They were the Hon. J. Goodall, M.L.C. (Westland), Mr. F. Mander, former M.P. for Marsden, Mi. W. D Lysnar, former M.P. for Gisborne, and Mr. J. Vigor Brown, former M.P. for Napier. The House then adjourned till the evening as a mark of respect. The House rose at 10.32 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. today.
