Cllueh, who is now trained by E. George nt Ellerslie, would have been a well bucked runner in the Mlt.chelson Cup, but us he camlot net except in firm going, he did not start. Clinch is engaged at the Wellington meeting. New Ownership. The sale is reported from Tlmaru of Highland Dance, a ilve-year-old bay gelding t-y Pink Coat from Keel .Row. He Wtts owned by Air. D. The three-year-old filly Indian Princess runner-up to Representative in the Great Northern Guineas, looks as if she might develop vety useful form, as she had had only one previous start this season, at Obinemuri. Indian Princess, who is trained by 11. Gray for Mr. A. M. Rennie, was bred by Air. ,H. Hassall, of Hastings, and wtts sold as a yearling at the national sales for ItSgns. She is by Bulandshar from Love of Silver, by Silverado from Amourette, by Psychology—Lovelock, sister to Menelaus, Nones, Lovematch. Left, and Dominant. This is the solid , staying family which lias produced other good horses like Old Bill, Gaine Carrington und Beau Vite. Speedy. Powys, a half-brother by Cambria Park to Kiltowyn iu J. Muir’s stable, is a speed}’ hack at present showing good form. It took a good one in Lord Chancellor to head him oh the post last Saturday; while ha had been successful iu his previous start, at Obinemuri. Powys is engaged at Wellington, A.J.C. Derby Winner. • Alain Topic, the winner 'of the A.J.C. Derby, in interesting to New Zealanders as he is by Talking, the Magpie horse from the New Zealand-bred Society, who himself won the race in and was Subsequently sold to Mr. Alan Cooper for a big sum. Alain Topic is a brown colt out of Germain, by Gorban (son of The Tetrarch) from Lady Pop, by Popinjay (son of Maltster), from, the ininorted mare My Lady Ji'rances. Main Topic won one race as a two-year-old, and ho cost his owner, Mr. T. McGrath, only 240gns. at the yearling sales, being one of the cheapest lots by Talking, whose stock fetched the highest prices at tile 1910 sales.
Bucked and Beaten. V. . There was support for Tring in the Novice at Dunedin on Saturday, but hb did not run anywhere. Trlng, who has done very little racing and none till tills seasou, is a- three-year-old by Salarnagundl from Assemble, by Tractor from Take Down, the dam ot Overhaul and Master Anomaly. Tring was bred by his owner-trainer D. P. Wilson. Overcame AH Difficulties. The win of Olga’s Pal on Saturday was probably better than it appears on paper, ns he drew 12 at the barrier, a position at the five furlongs at Ellerslie which modt good judges there declare is practically hopeless. A Good Horse. It is Interesting to note the return to form ot Royal Lancer, A couple of seasons back he began to show most promising form, but he went sore, and till thia season he has not been raced a great deal slnco ho' was a four-year-old.,
Owned In New Zealand. Tuhitarata, winner of the Melbourne Stakes on Saturday, is owned by Mr. J. ■lamosou, of Jlastertou, who races-White Rajah and other horses in New Zealand. Last season he won tour races and was twice second in 10 starts, .bls principal success being in the A.J.C. Doncaster Handi-. cap. He is now a seven-year-old. uud though he has a Maori name, being called after Mr. Jameson’s own property,.he was bred In Australia, being by Simeon's Fort (son of Swyhtord and half-brother to Phalaris) from Valerianic, by Valais—Ponderosa, a half-sister to Pbinard, the dam of Poltrel. On his breeding- he should run both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup distances. He has 8.13 in the Caulfield Cup, and 8.7 in the Melbourne Cup.
Bred in AuStrnlla. „ The Otaki. maiden winner Walplro, is a tour-year-old brother to Hadrian, a winner of the Hobartvllle Stakes, C. W. Cr6p•per Plate, Canterbury Guineas, RosehiH Guineas, etc. He is by the Polymelus horse Tippler, from Figure, not Figure Owu as is appearing in the New Zealand race books, IHgure being by Three from Forfar Lass, a granddaughter of Spearmint. Thrie, a sou of The Welkin, raced successfully in New Zealand a few years ago, in the colours of Mr. R. Buick. Walplro has not done much racing, -but, he was considered worth tOOgns. as a yearling by, J. T. Jamloson.
£lOO,OOO tor Lord Glanely's Stud. Though a private purchase was made of the late Lord Glanely’s stud by the building magnate. Mr. A. 15. Alluntt, tho price paid for the 13+ lotA was stated to be £lOO,OOO. The deal included the four stallions, Colombo, Singapore., Chulmlclgh, and Tiberius, and 50 brood mares. Mr. All. natt's intention was to keep .the best and sell the remainder. Ho entered the ranks of 'English owners two years ago when he purchased 11 yearlings from the. Aga Khan at 400gns. apiece. With these no has done exceptionally well. Undoubtedly bloodhtoek is considered to be a gllt-edgo investment in England.
