DAMAGE AT SURGERY
Wellington Doctor’s Second Misfortune . For the second time within a few months, Dr. Hughes Steele, of 166 Willis Street, AVellington, had deliberate damage done at his surgery by visiting servicemen last night. Shortly before 8 p.m. a valuable engraved glass panel in the main door of the premises was smashed. This glass panel was the work of an artist, and is irreplaceable. Dr. Steele was rather severely assaulted bj» intruders about three months ago, still suffers from an injury to a hand, and received no redress. Last night, while he was ulistairs, two servicemen were seen to approach the door, deliberately smash the.panel, and saunter casually down the street. The glass was shattered by a hottie. Dr. Steele immediately informed the police and two military police attached to the visiting servicemen subseqquently arrived. He remonstrated with them on the point that this was the second time lie had suffered, for no reason at all, from “thuggery” of this nature. He states that their reply to him was abusive.
