SERVICE CLUBS

■Webby’s Club activities have been carried on at Miss Kathleen O’Connor's dancing studio. The members entertained large numbers of guests during the weekend. Supper is provided by women helpers and this is appreciated by all. Sunday tea was enjoyed, after which a large crowd danced to excellent music. The club's activities will continue till further notice at the temporary premises. Many friends and members of the Fighting Forces. Club, oßechabite Chambers, Willis Street, Wellington, enjoyed the club’s hospitality last weekend. On Friday and Saturday nights the usual table tennis and dancing were enjoyed, vocal items being contributed by Mavis Spaekman. Miss Gladys Jarvie and Private W. Kerekere assisted Messrs. D. Sparkes and A. Dentice, of the orchestra. by playing several extras. Girls in charge of supper on .Friday were Misses Isabel Ingham, Zita McMahonBox, Dorothy Coe, Helena Young, Monette Lum and Pat iSmith, and on Saturday Misses Pat Hunter, Joan Fuller, Lois Dellar and Valerie Fitzgerald. The Victory Club was the rendezvous for hundreds of servicemen during the weekend. Enjoyable music was played by the Rhythm Trio. On Saturday night a vocal item was given by Miss Dorothy Sligo, Dunedin. The masters of ceremony were Staff Sergeants R. Sloan and Glen Prestidge. The helpers included Mesdnmes Slack, Jeffs, Baker, Na«h, and Misses Jean and Mavis Rae, Gladys Moir, Win Smith, Florence Bennett, Anne Sander, and May Morton, and Mrs. Henderson, doorkeeper. During the weekend at the Cinderella Club record numbers signed the register. On Friday night the usual informal dance was held, and hostesses gave a special welcome to the many members ot the Merchant Navy present. On Sunday a savoury 'tea was served, followed by dancing to Mrs. Allen s orchestra. During the week a party of Cinderella girls was entertained by men of a military camp at an enjoyable dance. Vegetables were welcome gifts received at the Y.W.C.A. to help in serving meals at the weekend. They were sent in by the W.W.S.A. land groups at Lower Hutt and Rusell Terrace, and tne Paraparaumu garden circle. Meals were prepared by regular helpers, under. Miss A. D. Rennie’s direction. The cateterm was in charge of the Progressive M omen's Club on Saturday, and Marsden School old girls yesterday. Women of t?t. Aidan's Church. Miramar, provided and served Saturday’s supper. Yesterdays entertainment was given by the Wellington Magicians’ Society, and the Rev. J. Churchill, Rongotai, conducted the service.

Lady Buckleton will open St. Peter’s parish’annual bazaar today at 2.45 p.m. The usual sensible articles, ranging from produce to pillow-cases, will be ottered lor sale. At night the sale will he continued with entertainment, which will be repeated on Wednesday evening.
