ANNUAL MEETING
New Features Of Y.W.C.A. Work Emphasized
New features in the work of the Y.W.C.A. in Wellington were emphasized by representatives of the groups concerned who outlined activities at the annual meeting last night. Mrs. P. Fraser, wiw of the Prime Minister, and Mrs. L. C. A. Hislop, mayoress of Wellington, were among special guests present. Mrs. J. b. Martin, president, was in the ehuir. On ■being re-elected for the coming year, Mrs. Martin received a sheaf of flowers, Mrs. Pearson, on behalf of those present, paying a tribute to her leadership and abilities. „ r< a Aspects of work within the Y.W.C.A. in which they were specially interested were given by the following: Mrs. IVaters, accommodation, including the work of the association’s accommodation bureau ; Miss Joan Adams, International Club; Miss Marion Fougere, holiday activities, including camps, sports, and play days for schoolgirls; Miss Turu Tapu, activities of Raratongan girls in Wellington, who have started their own club, Teare Maori, within the Y.W.C.A.; Miss Carol Bourne Webb spoke on “Live Y-ers,” a club for residents at the Brougham Street hostel; Miss Jean McPhee dealt with the W.A.A.F. Club, which from small beginnings, now had several hundred guests at its weekly dances in the Blue Triangle Hall; Miss Frances Drake outlined the programme followed in the recent course of MenWomen relationship lectures, in which various service clubs participated. At •the conclusion of the meeting supper was served.
