CHINA FRONT TOURED
Mr. Willkie Departs
CHUNGKING, October 11. Mr. Willkie concluded his visit to China and left by air. The Chungking correspondent of the “New York Times” says that Mr. Willkie inspected the war front in Honan Province, and visited the most strategic stronghold on the northward bend of the Yellow River, where the Japanese have made 31 unsuccessful isttempts to cross in five years. Mr. Willkie and his party, including newsmen who have spent years in China, expressed surprise at the unexpected excellence and efficiency of the defence works, equipment, and morale of the troops. The War Minister, General Ho Ylngchin, announced that China had called up 11,000,000 men since 1937.
