More Service Clubs Report Busy Weekend

The Majestic Cabaret was visited by more than 800 men on Sunday, when the Spinsters’ Club, Wellington, held its usual entertainment. A feature of the programme was the dance music played by an orchestra of visiting servicemen. Their numbers were popular and warmly apilauded. Rodgers gave tap dances. There was a total attendance of more than .1100 guests, visiting girls assisting the members in serving tea, cabaret fashion, at small tables. Plans are under way for the club’s birthday party in the near future, which the members hope to make even more successful than that held last year. The studio and lounge of the Grosvenor Club, Wellington, were crowded during the weekend, and dancing was enjoyed 'to music supplied by Mrs. Pearl Bramley and Air. Carl Nichols. Once again Dorothy Seymour’s concert party entertained with musical items. Voluntary helpers included: Misses L. and E. Humphreys, D. Askew, R. Haynes, R. Davies, H. aud D. Buck, C. Roper, N. Beker, E. Knox, C. Myers, G. Brown, L. Tohill and K. Hughes. Visiting women musicians supplied the music at the Toe H Club’s weekly dance for servicemen in Wellington on Friday. The musicians attended in response to an

appeal made the previous week. Women of the club served supper in the lounge. Sunday night’s concert was organized by Mrs. McGowan and her pupils. Other artists were Mr. John Seymour, Miss J. Anderson, the Campbell Sisters, Miss Jean Brandon, Air. H, Foley. Airs. McGowan was the pianist. Supper followed the entertainment, being provided by women auxiliary workers of the club. The continuity of gifts of provisions to the club would be greatly appreciated. The Victory Club, AVellington, again entertained crowds of servicemen during the weekend when two successful dances were held. Staff-Sergeant R. Sloan and Air. B. Alorton were popular Al.C.’s. Thanks are extended to Airs. Slack, Misses Jean and Alavis Rae, Alarie AlcCabe Jean Dav, Anne Guildford, Shirley Todd and Air. Anderson. Extras were played by Aliss Ngaire Slack and Gunner Jack Afarshall.
