FINE ACHIEVEMENTS BY BRITAIN
LONDON, September (>. Britain's achievements were summed up today by the Deputy Prime Minister. Mr. Attlee, who said that the British habit of remembering failures and forgetting successes was resented by friends and allies.
Mr. Attlee said that 70 per cent, of the casualties suffered by the Imperial Forces had fallen bn men from this country. Without belittling the contribution of others, up to this spring British war production was greater than that of the United States, and in providing war material, the "old lion” had certainly done the lion's share. He said he had heard criticism of the British shipbuilding, but it was worth noting that with fewer yards and less labour and also in spite of handicaps of the blackout Britain produced more tonnage hist year than in the best year of the last war.
