Mrs. P. Fraser President Of New Branch

During the month a new’ branch ha<been formed in Northland, with Mrs. P. Eraser as president, it was reported ut the recent meeting of the women’s section of the Wellington U.S.A. Mrs. C. H. Weston presided, and welcomed Lady Lake, who consented to accept the ollice of patroness. During the month a new branch had been formed in Northland, with Mrs. Peter Fraser as president. This is a suburb in which the U.S.A, is not established. On September 21 the president, Mrs. Montgomery Spencer, and the members of the W.0.5.0. Club, will entertain the relatives of prisoners of war in German camps. It was reported that on Saturday. September 12, Lieutenant-Colonel Tennent, lately repatriated as a prisoner of war, would speak to relatives of men interned in Italy on the conditions and the daily life of New Zealand soldiers in the camps. It was decided to. have a shop on November 25 for the sale of Christmas gifts, flowers, produce and cakes, the proceeds to be used to augment the Rose Day funds. A request was made by the president. W.R.S.A., to the women’s section, to arrange the .monthly luncheons formerly held at Kirkcaldie and Stains’ tearooms, but now. discontinued. It was agreed to do this.. The Rose Day tally is now about 6000 roses made each week. Added help, has been given this month by the Navy League,' Mrs. Peter MacLeau, the Pioneer Club, arts and crafts circle, the Wadstown Red Cross committee, Mrs. Mazengarb. Branches of the women’s section at . the Hutt, Eastbourne, Kilbirnie and Brooklyn are making their quota. , . Mrs. Petersen, Khandallah, offered to the women’s section a gift of 500 garments made by a committee of which she is the convener. This is a valued contribution. • Mrs.. Goldsmith, with her sub-committee, paid visits to mothers in the maternity hospitals. It was proposed to hold a gathering of relatives of men serving overseas with the Royal Navy on Trafalgar Day. Encouraging reports of . progress came from the affiliated auxiliaries of the Hutt Valley (Mrs. R. B. Ashe), Brooklyn (Mrs. J. Hood), Miramar (Mrs. J. W. Appleyard), Seatoun (Mrs. G. A. Hayden), Eastbourne (Mrs. V. G. Jervis), All reported their interest in arranging house-to-house sales of roses on November 6.
