The 49th annual meeting of tlie Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand was held in Wellington recently, the president, M r - 1- Auton, Christchurch, presiding over a good attendance of members. Moving the adoption of the annual report, Mr. Auton saiu the 29 admissions to membership during the year was very gratifying. Many ot these applicants were serving in the forces and most of them had also applied for tin. Armed Forces Scholarships to be Pressed by the institute at the end qt tlie war. At-the council meeting earlier in the day it had been decided to grant at least three such. scholarships, and he hoped members would advise any Prospective applicants of the existence of these scholarships. , Three life members were elected, they were Messrs. Peter Barr, Dimedin, • McCulloch, Napier; and C. D. Mor P| t *’- Wellington, all of whom had been actively asosciated with the institute since its inception in 1894. Officers were elected as follows . I resident Mr. T. Auton. Christchurch : vicepresident, Mr.’ J. S. Butler Hastings; councillors, Messrs. D. H. Steen and L. D.'Wilkinson, Auckland: Will Appleton, I L Arcus, and D. R. Menzies. Wellington; T. Auton :*d H. Bicknell, Christchurch: H. H. Henderson and H. H. Svkes. Dunedin: J. S. Butler. Hastings; niid W. C. Harrington. Palmerston North; treasurer Mr D. R. Menzies, Wellington: secretary, Mr- K- v. Mor path, Wellington.
