SERIES OF CHARGES
IVilliaih Joseph Donghi; aged 24, labourer, faced a series of charges-when he appeared before Mr. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Weliingtou, -yesterday. h’or being idle and disorderly, with insufficient means of support, he .was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, und for assuming the name of. William Medows after the coming into force of the Change of Name Emergency Kegulutions, he was convicted and discharged. To both these charges he pleaded guilty. On a charge of breaking und entering a house in Palmerston North and stealing £2(18/3/2 in money, and also some goods, the property of Olive E. Thompson, he was remanded to appear at Palmerston North on Friday. Detective-Sergeant McLennan said accused had been released from prison on licence and was living in Palmerston North when, on August 20, he broke into the house with another man and stole the money and the goods. Accused took, half the money and came to'Wellington, where he stayed at oiie of the best hotels under an assumed name.
