Wellington v. Hutt Valley

Wellington ba-slltetiball representative teams travelled to Lower Hutt on Satur. dav and were entertained by the Lower Hutt association. Hutt Valley A team met the Wellington senior B team and were superior from the start. Several of the Hutt playera have been at New Zealand tournamen-t-s, and this experience stood them In good stead. Only two o.f tbe Wellington girls had played before in a senior B representative fixture. At an early stage Hutt Valley led 11-1, and at . half-time M-4. -In the second half Wellington B made -a determined effort, but could not get -nearer than 13-10 at call of time. The second game, was even, the first half ending 6-0, but Wellington attacked to good purpose during the second spell and won 19-9.

In Wellington first grade games were plaved, Aspro and Island Bay winning. Both games were Interesting, but not exciting. M. Howe was playing once again for Kia Ora. . ... Great interest was taken in the replay of the game between St. Joseph’s and Island Bay, previously drawn. This was an exciting game, -both teams playing their hardest. -St. Joseph’s -won and take tbe senior chmuipionship. The team has played conslderitibly well during the whole season, and deserves the senior B cbampionfihlp, the first won by them for many years. Senior A: Aspro 15, T.'C.O.G. 1)1; Island Bay 18, Kia Ora 13. Senior B: St. Joseph's .15, Island Bay 11. Third grade: Aotea 20, Kia Ora (1.
