HIGH SCORING SOCCER

Wellington Beats Army High scoring was the main feature of the match between Wellington soldier Soccer players and Wellington civilian Soccer players, played at the Basin Reserve on Saturday, Wellington beating Army by 9 goals to 6. The weather was sunny and calm, and the ground in good condition. Both teams consisted of fit, capable Soccer players, and the game was an entertaining right through, but neither side had really good combination. Wellington deserved their win. Singer was an outstanding player of that team, and scored three goals, two of them brilliant solo efforts. Good form was shown by the Army goalkeeper, Robson. At half-time, Wellington was only one goal ahead of Army, 4-3. In the early part of the second half Wellington piled on goals, and at one time the score was 9-4 in their favour, but near the end Scott scored twice for Army. For Wellington, Woods, Yeoman and Singer scored three goals each, and for Army, Scott scored four goals and Tanner and Janes one each. Two other games were played at the Basin Reserve on -Saturday afternoon. Wellington primary schools beat Hutt primary schools, 4-0. The scorers were Sinden (3) and Leonard. In a' fourth division game Moera Stop Out aud Technical College drew without score.
