Hutt United And Petone Win Seven-Aside
The Wellington Women s Hockey Association held the annual senior and junior seven-a-sifie tournament under ideal conditions on Saturday. The senior tournament, commenced the previous week, had reached the ’ semifinal when bad weather postponed furtier play. College Old Girls beat Technical Old Girls 1-0 in the semifinal on Saturday, Hutt United drawing the' bye. Tbe final saw College Old Gins make a determined effort to be the only team to lower H'Bt United’s colours this season, but they could not resist the persistent onslaughts of the United forwards. Tbe match was full of thrills and excitement. ~ „ In the junior seven-a-sifie, the two finalists, Petone Technical College and Wellington Technical College, provided so keen and even a game that at the ct)B ot time the scores were level, 1-1. In the extra time allowed Petone Technical scored. Petone Tech, and College Old Girls had to play extra time, In the semifinal m which Petone Tech. A scored a goal. Next Saturday's senior A, senior B and junior Wellington representative teams will plav the Wairnrapa representatives at Lansdowne, Jlasterton. The teams, ■which will be announced m “The Dominion” this week, will assemble at the railway station at 7.40 a.m. on Saturday. Tournament results, are:— Senior.-Semiflnal; College Old Girls 1 (Miss J. Riley), Technical Old Girls 0 Final; Hutt United 1 (Mrs. J. Brown), College Old Girls 0. Junior.— Seiuitinal: Petone Technical A 1. College Old Girls I 0. Final: Petone Technical 2 (Misses A. R. McMurray, T. Lipson) We.ltiu.gtou Technical School 1 (Miss 1Hall) after extra play. ~ , . Senior B Championship: Petone Tech, old Girls drew with Varsity, 3 Petone Tech, winning -the championship.
