Dominion Townswomen’s Guild
Members of the Dominion Townswomen’s Guild recently, startedwork.at their new’ rooms in Manners Street, WU lington, which have -been procured for them by Mts. M. Haldane. Ihe , guild was formerly housed in the « ld J building on the corner of M akeheld and Mercer Streets, now condemned as unsat- * 'Since the earthquake and the vacating of its headquarters the guild had been faced with the problem or rinding suitable accommodation where.members could continue their useful activities. Lhis was solved by the generous action of J nines Nevin and Co. Ltd.,, who placed a suite of rooms at their disposal, so that toe making of E.P.S. equipment and other war-work projects' could be continued/ They comprise a comfortable lounge and three workrooms. Mrs. Haldane, who supervised the change' over, also organized and helped recondition the rooms, and other voluntary services were given by Messrs. Scott and Long, and Hill and Jackson Ltd. Mr. E. J. Hill, Manners Street, made extensive alterations for the benefit of the guild, which were much appreciated.
Newly-Formed Welfare Club. A Bluebird Happiness Club has recently been formed in Wellington South, meeting at tlie W.C.T.U. Hall in Constable Street, and two successful meetings have been held. The officers are: President, Mrs. Millar; vice-president, Mrs. Stuart; secretary, Mrs. MacPherson; treasurer, Mrs. Inch ; committee, yon, Mason, Baker, Kilpatrick, Elliott, Goiigli and Tanner, with Miss Shakespeare as pianist The .club will function on the principle of giving sympathy ano service and will assist both socially and financially, persons in need of help.
News of the week at Robin and Co., 17 Grey Street, is a splendid old silver spirit kettle. It'is very handsome—-a large kettle lightly engraved but with ample lines and an acorn knob on the lid swung between tall embossed uprights springing from a square embossed base. It is an exceptionally tine piece.—Advt.
