MATERNITY WARD
Provision At Lower Hutt Proposed
By adopting last night a clause-in its policy and finance committee’s report, the ■Wellington Hospital Board affirmed that the provision of maternity accommodation at the Hutt Hospital was urgent and authorized the building committee to instruct the architects of the hospital to that effect. , , Mrs. 8. E. Blake said she was glad to see that the urgency of further maternity accommodation in the Hutt Valley hud been noted. She believed patients had had to go to hospitals outside the district. . , , , Mr. J. C. Crawford said he gathered tliat the suggestion was that the matemity home at Lower Hutt should be a separate entity, and a site had been bought, but there was no doubt that accommodation was urgently needed and the way to provide it immediately was to put a wing on the new main building. Advice has been received by the board from the Commissioner of Defence Construction that -the completion of the Hutt Hospital'emild be carried out as a defence work. ‘ ■
