FINAL GALLOPS

Training At Hawera

Dominion Special Service. HAWERA, August 27. Final gallops for the Hunt Clubs’ moating on Saturday were performed this morning under wintry conditions, a bitterly cold wind blowing strongly against the horses finishing up the straight. Fha course proper, with the trestles out 3o net, was available for fast work, but was very holding and a number of horses were galloped on the sand, which afforded faster going than the outside. ' A number of visiting horses were out exercising, indud ing Venture, Smooger, Indian Sun, Moko Moko, Ring Scurf and Golden Acre. Cetewayo (Potroz), going from the seven, galloped four furlongs in oS. the first three in 43. Duncannon (Graham) finished in front of Retort (Flower) at the end of three furlongs, traversed in 44*. . . Corday (Potroz). alter covering the first three furlongs in 42J. completed five in 1.11 2-5. finishing into the wind. Peter’s Choice (Holland) finished strongly up tho straight to register 57 for four furlongs. the last two in 28. - Ladv Pippin (Potroz), after covering three furlongs in .425, slowed up to occupy Golden (Holland) went evenly over half a mile.in 58. Two visitors in skydonna and Betterman finished together at the end of five tur10C?arice'was accompanied by Star Quex over a couple of furlongs and completed four in 5(1. The gallops mentioned were all performed on the outside. On the sand War Effort (Graham) covered half a mile comfortably in 00, the last two furlongs in 28.
